New Year, new.....

....list of seeds to buy!

I've just done the this-time-of-year Seed Audit.  It's a bit daunting how much I've got to buy, but if I don't buy it there'll be some pretty significant gaps.  Like Leeks.  I do, as it happens, and I seem to have no Leek seed left.  Eek, no Leek!!

Seeds this year are from a combination of Seeds of Italy, who I think are excellent, and DT Brown, who I've never used before.  Seeds of Italy provide vast quantities of seed in every packet at a not-unreasonable cost.  Browns provide fewer seeds, although still enough, at a commensurately lower cost.  Their catalogue is a good reference work too, whereas Seeds of Italy provides a good entree into a different world of growing entirely.

Fingers crossed!

We're finalising seed choices too. By the way the Seeds of Italy link seems to link to Blogger has it hijacked it?

I've used browns before and had quite a good germination rate with them. I will buy my seeds this year from the allotment shop at great quantities at a considerably lower cost...there are some good things to belonging to an association I suppose!!

I guess it must have done Sue; there did seem to be some faffing-about going on as I was posting it!

Thanks Tanya, that's good to know. Our allotment shop doesn't seem to do seeds; it's more sundries, fertilisers, onion sets, spuds etc. I feel guilty about not using it more but it's only open on Sunday mornings when I tend to be doing other things.

Happy New Year! I use Dobies as we have a good discount with them through my local Hort Soc. Best wishes for 2014.
