vermin or what? Pigeons; shoot on sight? Too right, on both counts.
Just wish I could.
If that offends anyone they clearly haven't got an allotment. I'm just
back from holiday and find 50 assorted cabbages, broccoli, kale etc
reduced to stalks (just ****ing stalks), completely beyond recovery, after the protective
netting....is no longer in place. How come the protective netting is no
longer in place? Inquiries are continuing. Three months work wasted.
Flying rats. Not a happy bunny here, in case you hadn't guessed.

I share your disdain over the pigeons.....maybe you could start off some late brassicas?? Hope you has a good holiday!!
I had a call from a plot neighbour to say a white rabbit had been spotted on our plot --- eek! We net against wood pigeons but I'm not sure the net would keep out a determined hungry bunny!
The holiday was great Tanya, thanks. I did wonder about some late brassicas but to be honest I'm feeling a bit fed up about the whole thing so I think I'll give them a miss. I think a well-grown cabbage is a thing of beauty so i'm loath to stop growing them. But on the other hand I'm not keen on wasted effort either. Incidentally, despite copious pea-stciks, they ahd all the shoots off the mangetout peas, so none of them either. I don't want to garden inside a cage but it's beginning to feel like that, and at least one person on this site has 'caged' a substantial part of his plot. Perhasp that's the way to go?
Hi Sue - I'm inclined to agree; netting won't keep out a hungry bunny. Mind you, it doesn't keep out pigeons here!
