Sloe-ly does it
Last year I got precisely 8 sloes. 8
This year, from the same [small] tree I've got two and a half pounds of them!!!
Here they are.
Should be enough for some sloe gin this year, to accompany the blackberry whisky and the plum whatever. Speaking of plum whatever, last week I was in Slovenia and was routinely given a shot of slivovitz after every evening meal. Very tasty and just the sort of digestif we needed. The allotment, meanwhile, is still pretty dry and unproductive, sloes aside, and heading for its autumn tidy. I feel a few bonfires coming on!

woody...I've been advised to put my sloes in the freezer for a month to break up the skins before making the "nectar"! Have fun!
Thanks Gerry, good tip (anything to avoid pricking them all!!) and that's where they've now gone.
Mine are in the freezer too, although I didn't grow my own they were 'foraged' from a local park!
That's a bit better than 8! Who knows what you'll get next year! Love 'n' hugs, Mel xx
Humph! I've got serious plum and sloe envy going on over here!
The plum tree died and I haven't been able to find any sloes ...I suspect my friends got there first! :(
Enjoy!
When it's been turned into sloe gin (may be some time!) you'll have to come over for a tasting session.
