Garlic and Autumn Shallots should be planted in......? Errm, Autumn? Yep, the clue is in the name for the Shallots and Garlic needs a spell of cold weather.
So when did I plant mine? This afternoon. Phew, just in time but at least I'm in the right year.
On which note, Happy New Year to all allotment bloggers everywhere. Hope you're looking forward to a good season, ideally a bit drier and sunnier than this year. See you next year.

Happy New Year to you too Woody, I'm sure your shallots and garlic will catch up. We grow autumn onions but haven't tried autumn shallots - yet.
Hi there! I have just followed your blog. I can't wait to read your all of your posts! Please feel free to follow me back, I am a new starter! Bob.
better late than never :)
Yes indeed Michelle. Message to self - Must Do Better this year!!!
At least you got them in the ground. I've still got six bags of narcissus bulbs sitting in the shed. Stupid Hobbit has been waiting for it to be dry enough to get onto a rough section of grass to plant them . . .
Consoling myself with the knowledge that we had over 48 inches of rain here in 2012 and 'dry spells' were few and far between.
Funny you should say that BilboWaggins. We've also got a bag of Narcissus bulbs waiting in the garage! Wilma Wilbury bought them way back in November and the only one doing what a Narcissus should is the one our grandaughter planted indoors
