Of Mice and Spiders

At last I've found a way of disposing of the Terry's Chocolate Oranges I get in profusion at Xmas. I don't dislike them hugely, I just get a bit fed up of them, so take them to the allotment for an emergency sugar surge. Carelessly left one unwrapped last week and found it today, significantly smaller and with mousey teeth marks on it. Meeces, you're welcome!

Less welcome was the spider which had made a nest in my [allotment emergencies only, got to be pouring with rain before I wear it] cap. Big, nest, big spider, and of course only discovered when I put the cap on and it ran round the top of my head. Hey Ho.

Oh the mice story made me smile. Pests, but I like the thought of the life in our garden/sheds when we're not there (just think of the stories he told all his micey friends about the find). But then the spider story has me squirming! I don't mind spiders as long as they don't touch me! I always carefully poke around in my boots I leave in the barn before I stick my feet in them.

A friend of mine tells a tragic story of when she was young and was unfairly punished for stealing and eating the chocolate Christmas tree decorations, until a mouse nest was found lined with little bits of silver paper...

I found your blog whilst browsing for other allotment gardening/self sufficiency blogs. I've added you to my links list at www.bean-sprouts.blogspot.com If you'd like to link back to me that would be great, but it's entirely up to you.

Regards,

Thanks. Haven't mastered that yet! Advice please?

Email me at mel.rimmer@timelord.org.uk and I'll try to help you out. I've hand-held other people through it (the things I'll do to get a reciprocal link!) so I think I've got idiot-proof instructions.

At least the spider wasn't so big that he was wearing the cap!
